The Philippine Psychological Association was founded on August 10, 1962, by a group of pioneering Filipino psychologists who recognized the need for a national organization to promote the development of psychology in the Philippines.
Since its inception, PAP has grown from a small group of founding members to a large organization with thousands of members nationwide. It has played a crucial role in the development of psychology as a discipline and profession in the Philippines.
Over the years, PAP has been instrumental in advocating for the recognition of psychology as a profession, culminating in the passage of Republic Act 10029, or the Philippine Psychology Act of 2009, which regulates the practice of psychology in the country.
